C & L Scuba
C & L Scuba started its business in the basement of Ed & Elaine Riesmeyer's home in the year of 1991. During the early years, pool time was difficult to schedule. It seemed that we were always in competition with open swimming at the local YMCA during reasonable times or we able to obtain pool times late in the evenings while most people were sleeping.
1997 was an exciting year for C & L Scuba. It was early in the new year that our current facility was opened. We are proud to say that C & L Scuba is the only dive facility in Manitoba that houses a store, classroom, equipment room, and a specially designed pool just for teaching scuba diving. What this means to our students……..we only have to work around our schedule. Classes are run at times that are convenient for both our students and instructors. We keep our classes small, no more than 4 students to a class, so our students have more one on one training with their instructor. Pool temperature is kept at 90 degrees F to provide comfort for all. In July 2010, Ed & Elaine sold C&L Scuba to their son in law, Brian Kooistra.
Sales
Kim Kooistra- – Kim looks after sales, ordering, scheduling classes, gear rentals, etc., etc. Basically, she does everything except teach scuba diving, repair/maintain gear, and air fills. That she leaves up to Ed & Brian.
Instructors
Brian Kooistra– Brian owns and operates C & L Scuba and has been diving since 1989 and enjoys all types of diving. Warm, cold, night, deep, every dive is a good dive. His passion has taken him to various places in the Caribbean, Bosnia, and Cypress. Besides teaching scuba diving, Brian is in charge of gear maintenance/repairs and has been on several repair technician courses. Brian also maintains the 3 air compressors and looks after the visuals and fillings of scuba tanks.
